ABOUT SMITH LAW

OUR FIRM

Smith Law is a client-focused firm dedicated to providing top-tier legal representation to employees and small employers in Minnesota and Wisconsin. With more than a decade of experience in employment law, Smith Law has a reputation for being tough, honest, and hardworking. Whether representing clients who experienced unfair treatment or smart business owners seeking a steady hand to navigate dynamic employment matters, we provide knowledgable and efficient representation catered to our clients' unique needs. At Smith Law, you can expect the expertise of a big city firm with the close personal touch of a small firm. We are committed to connecting with our clients to find solutions that work for their lives and careers.

Smith Law is led by Bonnie Smith, an employment lawyer who has dedicated her career to fighting for the rights of employees and small employers. Formerly known as Shannon Law, LLC, the firm was originally founded in 2013 by Adrianna Shannon. Bonnie joined the firm in 2016 and together Adrianna and Bonnie built a reputation as a formidable legal team providing top-level legal services in and outside of the courtroom. Bonnie took over the firm in 2021, and continues providing the same excellent services under a new name.

BONNIE SMITH
Lead Attorney

Bonnie is a skilled lawyer with extensive experience and success in all stages of litigation, from motion practice to trial and appellate work. She is also a savvy advisor and negotiator, having secured numerous favorable settlements for her clients. An advocate for equality and progress, Bonnie enjoys working on behalf of historically underrepresented populations, including Black employees, women and mothers in the workplace, and minority and female business owners.

Bonnie was selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine, a distinction given to less than 2.5% of attorneys in Minnesota. She has been selected as one of the Top Women Lawyers in Minnesota, was identified as one of the 25 best employment lawyers in Minnesota by Expertise.com, and is a member of the WorkLife Attorney Law Network, an advocacy and research organization that seeks to advance racial, gender, and class equity.
Bonnie was born in Maine but made Minneapolis her home in 2010. She loves the city for its small but mighty size, thriving cultural and sports scene, and dedication to public parks. When she isn’t wearing her lawyer hat, you can probably find Bonnie in those parks or the beautiful lakes and bluffs throughout Greater Minnesota. A former competitive athlete, Bonnie continues to play basketball and softball recreationally. She lives in South Minneapolis with her husband and their three rambunctious boys.
