Smith Law

ABOUT SMITH LAW

Smith Law was officially established in 2022. Formerly known as Shannon Law, the firm was originally founded in 2013 by Adrianna Shannon, an employment law specialist with a background in psychology and criminology. Adrianna brought her colleague and fellow Badger Bonnie Smith to the firm in 2016, and over the next several years, Adrianna and Bonnie developed a reputation as a tough, honest, and hardworking team. They were committed to representing both clients who experienced unfair and illegal treatment in their place of work, as well as smart business owners seeking a steady hand in navigating dynamic employment matters. In 2021, Bonnie  took over the firm, and she now honors the reputation they built together by continuing to provide the same top-level services under a new name.

BONNIE SMITH Lead Attorney

Bonnie is a skilled lawyer who has devoted her career to helping employees and small employers across Minnesota and Wisconsin. She has extensive litigation experience and a strong history of negotiating favorable settlements for her clients. An advocate for minorities and women, she enjoys working on behalf of individuals who have historically been underrepresented, including women and mothers in the workplace, Black employees, employees of color, and minority and female business owners.

Bonnie has been selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine every year since 2014, a distinction given to less than 2.5% of attorneys in Minnesota. She has also been selected as a Top Women Lawyer in Minnesota.

Bonnie was born in Maine but made Minneapolis her home in 2010. She loves the city for its small but mighty size, thriving cultural and sports scene, and dedication to public parks. When she isn’t wearing her lawyer hat, you can find Bonnie in those parks hiking, camping, and ice skating, as well as exploring the beautiful lakes and bluffs throughout Minnesota. You might also check the basketball court and softball field, where she's been known to flex her competitive spirit. Bonnie lives in South Minneapolis with her husband and their three rambunctious boys.
